About Shiretown Glass & Home Center
Before it bacame Shiretown Glass & Home Center, the company has gone through many stages of change and development. In 1963, Shiretown Glass and Aluminum opened its doors on Plymouth’s waterfront at 32 South Park Avenue. In their 800-square-foot facility, owners William and Beverly Hallisey offered auto glass, plate glass, screen repairs, aluminum siding, and wood stoves. After a few years, the business moved to a larger facility at 186 Standish Avenue in Plymouth. Shiretown grew quickly, expanding its product lines and, because of its quality product and services, becoming a respected business in Plymouth and the surrounding towns.
In 1983, William Hallisey Jr. joined the team to work alongside his father, becoming general manager in 1988. This winning combination focused on hard work, attention to detail and customer satisfaction, which led to an extended growth pattern over the next 15 years.
In 2004, William Hallisey Sr. retired and Shiretown expanded further, offering more products and services including a full line of all glass products, vinyl siding, replacement windows, roofing, three-season porches, shower doors, bathrooms, basements, kitchens, and water/fire restorations.
In 2007, Shiretown acquired Mayflower Carpet and Window Treatment, which had also been a quality name in the Plymouth community for over 30 years under the direction of Keith Kaiser. Keith brings over 30 years of experience in flooring to Shiretown, which now offers a full line of flooring, carpeting, stair runners, laminate and hard wood. Shiretown is also a certified dealer for Hunter Douglas and offers the full line of Hunter Douglas products and services.
In 2012, Shiretown acquired Pilgrim Countertops when Ron Caderatte retired. Pilgrim Countertops was in business over 40 years and its addition meant Shiretown could feature a full variety of Dupont Corian, Formica, granite, marble and quartz for every countertop need.
Shiretown has been in business for 57 years. Under the leadership of William Hallisey Jr., Shiretown now occupies a 15,000-square-foot facility with 15 service vehicles for homeowners. The Halliseys have won several awards for siding, roofing, historical storefront and residential reproductions across the South Shore. Committed to and active in his community, he lives in Plymouth with his wife, Kristin, and their three daughters. William served on the Plymouth Board of Selectman for three years, two as chairman. He also serves on the Economic Foundation Committee with other men and women who work as visionaries for Plymouth’s future.
Please consider Shiretown, a local company committed to the future of the South Shore area, for any projects or services needed. No need to experience the stress of dealing with multiple contractors: Shiretown can handle all your home and business needs.
